When Chinese speaks Malay

assalamualaikum.
i never speak Malay with my Chinese friends here except for Adrian. some of them can't speak Malay at all and some are not fluent. so, instead of making them uncomfortable, i just speak English whenever i speak to them. Adrian is a rare case. he wants to speak Malay with us even though he tries so hard. we ever told him to speak English with us because he seems struggling to find words after words to speak. anyhow he still speak Malay as he claim that we seem comfortable when he speaks Malay. he's so good. it's like 'masuk kandang kambing menngembik, masuk kandang harimau mengaum. that's is why, when he speaks Malay with us, i feel nothing. it sounds perfectly fine. but, one of my friends once said he's quite pelat. when i think back, agak la sebenarnya. i don't even notice about it before because we are so close and it's not a big deal. as long as the message is understood. oh ya, i'm talking about Malaysian Chinese here.
the other day, i went to badminton try out for BERSATU. there were all Chinese except for few Malays.i tried for single and i was paired up for double's with Yu Ween. after a while, came the juniors. i have no idea what they had been talking to Jason. Jason was the person in charge for the selection. after i've done with my games, i talked to the junior. then, Jason came to us and said to the juniors " Kakak, kakak main lepas ni erk. lepas habis game ni, nanti saya panggil kakak". probably they speak Malay just now.that's why Jason speak Malay with us. my spontaneous reaction towards him " ish, comel la pulak dia ni, blh je cakap Melayu", tapi dalam hati la. it's not about admiring or something. it's about how funny he uttered the words, in a good way of course. can you imagine how he looks like? he's so cute, speaking Malay with good pronunciation but has a little bit of Chinese slang. what makes him even cuter is, he looks very much like Korean. with his style and glasses.
one of the positive things i've observed here, Malaysian Chinese here are so friendly. they are so warm and selfless. i make lots of Chinese friends here. Jason case is just one of the interesting case i ever encounter with. banyak je lagi. sometimes, when i scrolled my fb, i could see they were joking in Malay. it was hilarious.

i'm the only Malay there. people keep on asking me why i join this club instead of other club. i have no answer for that.

thank you for reading!
