what is the meaning of being independent?

Assalamualaikum and hi all
how your day and fasting? hope we all in His bless. oh ya, i wanna tell about my last school visit experience. aerk, i know it's very outdated since the visit was last Wednesday, hurm, but i still wanna share the most precious thing i got from that school. it's a large population high school , the students come from various background. and most interestingly, this school accept every students regardless to their academic background, culture, religion and nationality. the school accept refugee as well. talking about the school, i could say that the school doesn't has strict discipline rules. the students can wear everything they want like ear ring ( this is not the ordinary one, ganas punya woo), bangle, etc.. easy to say,all accessory are allowed except gold. frankly speaking, students' behaviour is out of control. i couldn't imagine if i were one of the teacher. seriously i can handle this kind of situation. they ignored the teacher. nk menagis tengok, cikgu dia buat muka. but, whatever it is, the teacher would never ever scold them even though he or she is VERY angry. i think this is the policy here. well, they are teenagers. they want freedom and they will do whatever they want. some of the teachers said that they couldn't do anything. they just try to control the misbehaviour but fore sure they couldn't stop it. yet, the students were super duper friendly. they greeted us first. here we could see that this kind of students are good at one side. compared to the students who are academically excellent, they usually not like this ( sometimes, correct me if i'm wrong). we walked around the school. the school have good facilities. 2 rugby fields...woooo...gymnasium...woo..turfs...woo..and many more. the best part was when we join ESOL class, we got the opportunity to talk to ESOL students which for sure international students. international students take ESOL, locals take ENGLISH.
i sat next to one of the boys. he came from China, 17 years old. not like other Chinese here ( NZ Chinese), he came to NZ to study and he said he is free-paid. he came alone without scholarship. he came to NZ because he wants to be in NZ's education system. back in China, everything is stressful. he said he wanna stay here and if possible to stay
here forever. he has been here for 2 years and personally i think his English is good. he is VERY humble. i donno why, when i spoke to him, i felt like wanna talk to him again and again. he's shy though. same thing goes to one of the boy. he's Vietnamese. his English, pergh!!..i thought he's Pasifica. and i met another boy, 17 y old too. he couldn't speak English very well. btw, he's from Cambodia. he has no academic background and i pity him. even he's 17, his learning ability is like 11 or 12 y old child. because one, he never go to school( if not mistaken) two, he has to learn everything in English and third, he might be a refugee ( i have no heart to ask him) because he came here with his mother.

he's from Cambodia, and that girl from Korea

ok, let reflects this story to us. we are independent. our country is rich. we are comfortable with our life. we have opportunity to get educated. we are peace, no war. we are free from natural disaster. but then, are we grateful? yeah, we do celebrate independence day every year. but what we get? sambut merdeka bagai nak rak, tapi apa pengisian kemerdekaan yang kita dapat. one of the boy at the school is not sure of his own nationality. dilahirkan dalam perang, berpindah randah sebagai pelarian dari Iraq ke Iran, ke Syria, ke Jordan dan negara-negara sekeliling. kita lahir dalam keadaan yang dah merdeka, tak rasa pahit jerih nenek moyang kita. mereka yang berkorban untuk keselesaan kita. kita hari ni sambut merdeka, lepas tu buat perkara tak elok masa malam tu. macam yang selalu terjadi setiap tahun. aku tak paham!!!. macam mana lah kita yerk, cetek sangat ilmu. takde kesedaran patriotik..
ni just sekadar peringatan untk semua and diri sendiri supaya berfikir. takut juga sebenarnya semua ni terjadi pada diri sendiri sebab orng yang bercakap ini akan lagi hebat diuji oleh Allah s.w.t..sama-sama kita berfikir dan perbaiki diri..
